The Art of Sandcasting: How Each Savage Peach Ring Becomes One-of-a-Kind

If you’ve ever looked at a Savage Peach ring and thought, “I’ve never seen anything like this” - you’re right. Every piece is individually hand-carved, molten-poured, and sculpted using a process called sandcasting. It’s ancient, unpredictable, and just a little bit magical.

So how does it work? And why is it at the heart of everything I make?

Let’s get into it.

What Is Sandcasting, Anyway?

Sandcasting is a traditional metal casting method where molten metal is poured into a mould made from sand or clay. But it’s not just the technical process that makes it speciel, it's what that process does to the metal. You end up with wild, organic textures. Tiny imperfections. Little chaotic moments frozen in time.

Each cast is unrepeatable. And that's why I love it.

From Wax to OH

Unlike many jewellers, I don’t sketch my pieces beforehand. The idea lives in my mind until I carve it into wax by hand. That wax model becomes the blueprint, which I embed into a mix of clay and sand to make a mould.

Then comes the transformation: molten silver (recycled 925 sterling silver) is poured into the cavity, filling the shape of the casting

It’s messy. It’s gritty. It’s perfectly imperfect.

Why It Matters

In a world of cookie-cutter jewellery and fast fashion, I wanted to build something different.

Each Savage Peach ring carries the fingerprints of a real process - one that respects the material, honours unpredictability, and celebrates the wild beauty of organic form.

This isn’t jewellery for the masses. It’s for people who want something raw, real, and unapologetically individual.

Some Personal Favourites

Savage Sunshine: A raw sapphire encased in molten silver, like bottled sunlight for your hand.

Savage Sunset: A fiery trio of sapphires in golden tones, radiating warmth and confidence.

Custom Casts: Many of my clients ask for personal pieces - engagement rings, memory markers, or soulful self-gifts. Each one is a new adventure.

The Soul Behind the Silver

Savage Peach was born after I turned my life inside out. I ditched my previous life, and moved back north to chase something real. Sandcasting helped me reconnect with creativity, with craft, and with myself.

Now I get to share that feeling through the jewellery I make.

And I don’t take that lightly.

Want One?

I make many of my pieces to order, so when you buy from Savage Peach, you’re not just buying a ring, you’re investing in something forged just for you. A slice of chaos. A pocket of power. A piece of art.

Love ya,
Lisa xxx
